How to Build a Reliable Live Modeler Rig

A modeler can be the most reliable live rig you'll ever play — if you set it up right. Here's how.

Plan your signal chain

Guitar into the modeler, then either FRFR on stage or straight to the PA (usually both, via a DI/XLR out).

Organise presets for the set

• One preset per song section, or scenes/snapshots for fast switching.
• Match output levels so nothing jumps in volume.

Have a backup plan

Save your set to a USB stick, carry a spare cable and power supply, and know how to reload presets quickly.
